Publication Ethics

Publication Ethics

The ASEAN Journal of Military and Preventive Medicine is committed to maintaining the highest standards of publication ethics and integrity in scientific publishing.

Ethical Standards

The journal follows ethical publishing principles established by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE), and internationally accepted scholarly publishing practices.

All parties involved in the publication process — including authors, editors, reviewers, and publishers — are expected to uphold ethical conduct, transparency, and academic integrity.

Responsibilities of Authors

Originality and Plagiarism

Authors must ensure that submitted manuscripts are original works and have not been published or submitted elsewhere. Proper acknowledgment of the work of others must always be provided.

Data Integrity

Authors are responsible for the accuracy, authenticity, and integrity of the data presented in their manuscripts. Fabrication, falsification, or manipulation of data is strictly prohibited.

Multiple or Redundant Publication

Manuscripts describing substantially similar research should not be submitted to more than one journal simultaneously.

Authorship

Authorship should be limited to individuals who have made significant contributions to the conception, design, execution, or interpretation of the research.

Conflict of Interest

Authors must disclose any financial, institutional, or personal relationships that may influence the interpretation of their work.

Human and Animal Ethics

Research involving human participants or animals must comply with institutional and international ethical standards, including approval from appropriate ethics committees where applicable.

Responsibilities of Reviewers

Confidentiality

Reviewers must treat all submitted manuscripts as confidential documents and must not disclose any information regarding the manuscript.

Objectivity

Reviews should be conducted objectively, fairly, and professionally without personal criticism of the authors.

Acknowledgment of Sources

Reviewers should identify relevant published work not cited by the authors and notify editors of any suspected plagiarism or ethical concerns.

Conflict of Interest

Reviewers should decline participation in the review process if conflicts of interest exist with the authors or research.

Responsibilities of Editors

Publication Decisions

Editors are responsible for evaluating manuscripts solely on academic merit, originality, scientific validity, and relevance to the journal scope.

Fair Play

Editors shall evaluate manuscripts without discrimination based on race, gender, institutional affiliation, nationality, or political beliefs.

Confidentiality

Editors and editorial staff must maintain confidentiality regarding submitted manuscripts and related communications.

Conflict of Interest

Editors should avoid handling manuscripts in which they have conflicts of interest arising from competitive, collaborative, or personal relationships.

Publication Misconduct

The journal takes all forms of publication misconduct seriously, including:

  • Plagiarism
  • Data fabrication or falsification
  • Duplicate publication
  • Improper authorship attribution
  • Undisclosed conflicts of interest
  • Ethical violations involving human or animal subjects

Allegations of misconduct will be investigated following COPE guidelines and may result in manuscript rejection, retraction, or notification to affiliated institutions.
